He is author of the Memoir Alone among the Living and the novel The Race Before Us.  He and his wife Candise have been married for 37 years and have three grown children and two grandchildren.

Pastor Hoard is also a chaplain with United Hospice of Athens and a member of the American Association of Christian Counselors. His hobby is dramatic performance, and he occasionally appears in local theater productions, recently as Dr. Buamragazo in Athens Creative Theater’s Gepetto’s Son, as both Adam and Corin in Rose of Athens, As You Like It, and as Daddy Warbucks in Oconee Youth Playhouse’s production of Annie.
