Pastor Hoard is a 1985 graduate of Asbury Theological Seminary in Wilmore, Kentucky where he received the Master of Divinity degree and the Seminary’s annual preaching award.

He is author of the memoir Alone Among the Living and the novel The Race Before Us. He and his wife Candise have been married for 33 years and have three grown children and two grandchildren.

Pastor Hoard's enjoys watching sports; in fact, he occasionally fills in as play-by-play or color commentator for high school football and basketball games for Hall County Sports.  He's also active with his hobby of dramatic performance.  His most recent performances have been as Maurice, father of Belle, in Oconee Youth Playhouse's Beauty and the Beast, the good Duke Ferdinand, in Town and Gown's As You Like It, and Mr. Nightingale in Classic City Arts Mr. Nightingale's Diary. He enjoys surprising our church attendees with e-mailed church announcements, using his impressions of famous celebrities.
